I had the pleasure to meet Arnie Kander, Physical Therapist and Strength and conditioning coach with the Detroit Pistons, at his home in Michigan when his wife and I lead a Pathwork transformation weekend in 2014 together. I was impressed with his knowledge about the body and the compassionate way he worked with me on some of my exercise goals. I've only heard great things about him since. Fast forward to the fall of 2018, when my knee injury flared up again. I remembered Arnie, who I hadn't talked to in awhile and reached out. Wow, did he have a lot to teach me! Working with him, even at a distance helped my knee to recover and to get back in the gym. I also learned a lot more of the nutritional and physical recovery side, and what it takes to recover fully in a holistic way. This video of his I am sharing is an easy and short warm-up routine I try to do every day now, and especially before any type of exercise. When I was younger I could jump out of bed, and get on my bike and ride 30 miles. Now I need to warm-up properly to excel at what I am doing and to reduce easy to avoid pain! I hope you enjoy these warm-ups as much as I do!

I made this video four years ago for an online class on public speaking. I was recently talking to some guys and they were interested in what I knew about the push up. My love for the push up started in 2015 when I became interested in body weight exercises. At the time I was able to lose 10 lbs from changing my diet and gained strength by doing a lot of push-ups, sit-ups, squats, and other stuff. My friend Arnie Kander, a physical therapist and strength and conditioning coach for the NBA's Detroit Pistons at the time, helped me polish my form for this video! The push-up is still one of my favorite exercises to do. The more I pay attention to proper form, the more I enjoy it. I hope you enjoy this video too. |
